The main floor is open-plan and sits on several levels, so you can shoot a wide establishing frame or close off a corner without moving. Two living rooms carry deep cream boucle sofas, an organic plaster coffee table on timber log legs, jute rugs and oversized raffia pendants. The dining area is a live-edge timber table set low to the floor with linen cushions in cream, ochre, olive and terracotta, backed by an arched picture window of trailing greenery.
The kitchen is fully working and camera-ready: micro-cement counters, timber cabinetry, open timber shelving stacked with ceramics, a gas hob, oven and espresso set-up, and a travertine island with bar stools under raffia pendants.
Beyond the living floor are the Sun Lodge, a daybed alcove set into a sculpted niche wall under a skylight, two guest bedrooms with rattan wardrobe doors and garden access, and a shared shower room with a travertine trough basin, backlit organic mirrors and a pebble-floor walk-in shower.
The garden is a desert xeriscape of crushed gravel and sand, washingtonia palms and silver foliage, with a fringed macrame hammock between the trees, a steel fire bowl, rattan lounge chairs and a pergola. A studded arched timber door opens the whole house to the street.
Light is the real asset here. Sun moves across white plaster and travertine all day, the arched openings throw clean shadow lines, and the house is designed for candlelight after dark.
