Hourly rates across the UAE's bookable spaces now span AED 35 to AED 7,500 — this index maps the middle.

The median listed rate across all 200 live spaces on Shuttrd was AED 525 per hour on 2 October 2026, and almost half the marketplace — 96 of 200 spaces — lists at AED 500 per hour or less. The full spread runs from AED 35 for a shared desk to AED 7,500 for a full indoor sports complex, and the middle half of the market sits between AED 350 and AED 1,100 per hour. This is the first UAE Shoot-Location Price Index: a quarterly, same-day snapshot of what bookable creative space actually costs, taken from live listings rather than brochure estimates.

What does this index measure?

Transparency first. Every figure in this report comes from one source read on one day: the listed hourly rate of all 200 live listings on shuttrd.com/spaces, captured on 2 October 2026. We grouped listings into categories from their titles; roughly 9% could not be confidently classified that way and count only toward the overall numbers. Two honest limits follow. These are listed prices, not transaction averages — what hosts ask, not necessarily what every booking settles at. And some categories are still small: eight live showrooms is a real market reading, but one new listing can move a small category's median. We will publish this index each quarter as supply grows, so the trend line matters more than any single figure.

What does each space type cost per hour?

The middle range is the span between the first and third quartile — where the central half of each category's prices sit. Sports and wellness venues (13 listings, median AED 600) and a mixed group of creative and multi-use spaces complete the 200.

Which findings stand out this quarter?

Al Quoz is a third of the market. Sixty-five of the 200 live listings — 32.5% — sit in Al Quoz, at a median of AED 600 per hour. No other district comes close, which squares with its role as the home of warehouses, studios and showrooms around the Alserkal Avenue arts district; our Al Quoz studio guide maps that supply in detail.

The camera gets the cheapest rooms. Dedicated photo and video studios are the most affordable shoot-ready category at a median of AED 315 per hour, and podcast and music rooms follow at AED 350. The spaces built for production cost less per hour than the spaces that merely look good in production — because a studio sells equipment and control, while a villa or showroom sells a finished set.

The set premium is real and quantifiable. Homes carry a median of AED 900 and showrooms AED 1,225 — roughly three to four times the studio median. That difference is effectively a set-design line item folded into the hourly rate: the furniture, finishes and practical lighting arrive built.

Abu Dhabi runs dearer, on thin supply. The eight live Abu Dhabi listings hold a median of AED 950 per hour, skewed toward large café-venues and event spaces rather than budget studios. We will treat that as provisional until supply there deepens.

How do these rates compare with the wider market?

They land inside the published bands rather than at their edges. Booqit's Dubai price guide (30 April 2026) put small photo studios at AED 150–300 per hour, mid-size equipped studios at AED 300–500 and video production spaces at AED 200–800 depending on spec — Shuttrd's live studio median of AED 315 sits squarely in that territory, and our event-venue median of AED 1,000 falls within Booqit's AED 800–2,000 mid-size venue band. The index also tracks with what we found walking the market in our 2026 studio price guide and our survey of podcast studio rates, both built from studios' published prices.

Behind the listings, the platform the index stands on keeps growing: the Shuttrd admin dashboard on the same day showed 138 hosts, 408 registered guests and 161 completed bookings. Small numbers, honestly reported — and the reason this index exists is that they compound.

What should renters and hosts do with this?

One practical caution before you budget from this table: a listed hourly rate is the start of the conversation, not the whole invoice. Listings differ on whether VAT is included, what the minimum booking is, and what counts as an extra — equipment, cleaning, overtime past the slot. Always confirm the all-in figure for your specific hours before comparing two spaces on their headline rates.

If you are budgeting a shoot, use the medians as anchors and the middle ranges as negotiating context: a quote far outside the band should come with a reason you can see — a cyclorama, a skyline, a fully dressed set. Booking off-peak hours in Al Quoz rather than a central district remains the single biggest lever on cost. If you are a host, price against your category's middle range rather than your gut: a studio listed at AED 900 is competing with villas, not with other studios, and our host rate guide walks through positioning in detail.

The next edition of this index will publish after Q4 2026 closes, with quarter-on-quarter movement per category. Until then, the live market is the index — Browse Spaces and sort by price to see every number in this report in its natural habitat.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a shoot location cost per hour in Dubai?

On Shuttrd's live marketplace, measured 2 October 2026, the median listed rate across all 200 spaces was AED 525 per hour, with the middle half of the market between AED 350 and AED 1,100. Dedicated photo and video studios were cheaper, at a median of AED 315 per hour.

What is the cheapest type of space to rent by the hour in the UAE?

Offices and meeting rooms, with a median of AED 235 per hour and a floor of AED 35 for shared desks. Among shoot-ready spaces, photo and video studios are the most affordable category at a median of AED 315 per hour (Shuttrd live listings, 2 October 2026).

Why do showrooms and villas cost more than studios?

You are paying for the set as well as the square metres. A furnished showroom or a designed villa arrives art-directed — furniture, finishes and practicals included — so its hourly rate carries what a studio shoot would spend separately on set design. Showrooms held a median of AED 1,225 per hour and homes AED 900 in the Q3 snapshot.

How is this index calculated?

We read the listed hourly rate of every live space on shuttrd.com/spaces on 2 October 2026 — 200 listings — and computed medians and ranges per category, with categories classified from listing titles. About 9% of listings could not be classified from their titles and count only toward the overall figures. These are listed prices, not completed-booking averages.
