How much does it cost to rent a photo studio in Dubai? A 2026 price guide

Renting a photo studio in Dubai costs between roughly AED 135 and AED 750 per hour on published 2026 rate cards, before 5 per cent VAT. The typical band for a mid-sized studio with lights included is AED 200 to AED 600 an hour, and a full eight-hour day runs from about AED 1,200 to AED 3,500.

Those are market rates gathered from studio websites and venue directories in late August 2026, not Shuttrd booking data. Prices change, so treat every figure below as a benchmark to check against a live quote.

What does an hour in a Dubai photo studio cost in 2026?

The table below collects publicly listed prices. All are per hour unless stated, and all exclude VAT unless the studio said otherwise.

Booqit adds that studio hire in Dubai "often starts from around AED 250 per hour" and puts the overall spread at AED 150 to AED 1,000-plus.

The independent guide from SparkHour, dated 18 January 2026, gives a slightly narrower range: AED 200 to AED 600 an hour, with day rates of AED 1,200 to AED 3,500. The two guides agree on the middle of the market and differ only at the extremes.

Why do studio prices vary so much?

Five things explain most of the spread.

Size and ceiling height. A cyclorama needs floor area and height. The 14 x 3 metre infinity wall at Let's Film Studio and the 8 x 6 metre cyclorama at SkyLight are priced above simple backdrop rooms because the space itself is the product.

Lighting and grip included. SkyLight includes two studio flashes and any modifier in the photo rate; Sweet Home Studio rents the hall only. A rate that looks AED 50 cheaper can cost more once you hire strobes separately.

Photo versus video. SkyLight charges AED 350 per zone for stills but AED 750 for video use of the whole studio. Video crews take more space, more power and more time, and studios price for it.

District. SparkHour notes that DIFC and Downtown studios command higher rates while Al Quoz and Dubai Production City are cheaper. Dubai Investment Park, where two of the studios above sit, is priced similarly to Al Quoz. Booqit's guide lists Dubai Media City, Al Quoz, Alserkal Avenue, Dubai Studio City and Al Wasl as the main studio clusters.

Block length. Long bookings are discounted. Sweet Home Studio charges AED 300 for the first hour and about AED 250 for each hour after it. SkyLight's eight-hour block at AED 2,500 works out to roughly AED 313 an hour against AED 350 for a single hour, and the studio adds a ninth hour free.

What is usually included in the hourly rate?

SparkHour's January 2026 guide lists what a Dubai studio typically bundles: strobe lighting with softboxes and modifiers, C-stands, boom arms and grip, white, black and grey seamless paper, a changing room or privacy screen, a steamer and garment rack, and a tethering station.

Not everything on that list is free everywhere. On SkyLight's rate card, paper backdrops cost AED 50 per metre used, and continuous LED and Astera tubes are paid add-ons. Kitchen sets, themed sets and exclusive-use guarantees carry their own premiums.

Before you book, ask the studio to confirm in writing:

1. How many lights and which modifiers are included, and what each extra costs.
2. Whether backdrop paper is charged per metre.
3. Whether the rate is for one zone or the whole studio, and whether another client can shoot next door.
4. The maximum headcount. SkyLight caps a zone at 8 people; Let's Film lists 30.
5. Whether set-up and pack-down time counts as booked time.

How should you budget a studio shoot day in Dubai?

Use market rates to build a rough budget, then replace each line with the studio's quote.

Two budget traps are worth naming. The first is VAT: almost every Dubai rate card is "plus VAT", so the number you see is not the number you pay. The second is overtime. Do you need a permit for a studio shoot?

If the shoot is for media production, the answer in Dubai is yes. Executive Council Resolution No. 50 of 2014 defines indoor filming as filming in closed spaces such as homes, trade centres, offices and hotels, and its Article 4 makes the Dubai Film and TV Commission the sole licensing entity in the emirate, including the free zones. Is a studio always the right choice?

Not always. A studio buys you controlled light, a clean floor and gear on site. It does not give you a real kitchen, a Marina view or a warehouse texture. For lifestyle, interiors and UGC-style content, an apartment, villa or showroom booked by the hour can be cheaper than a themed studio set. 1. Book a block. Eight- and ten-hour packages at SkyLight and Sweet Home Studio are 10 to 17 per cent cheaper per hour than single hours.
2. Shoot stills, not video, where you can. The gap on SkyLight's card is AED 350 against AED 750.
3. Bring your own paper. Where backdrop paper is billed per metre, a AED 50 charge for each metre adds up on a full-length fashion shoot.
4. Choose the district for the job. Al Quoz, Dubai Investment Park and Dubai Production City studios are priced below Media City, DIFC and Downtown for comparable space, according to SparkHour and the listings above.

What this guide does not tell you

Every figure here is a public rate card or a directory listing read on 1 September 2026. Studios change prices, run promotions and add surcharges for weekends and late nights, and none of the sources above published a peak-versus-off-peak schedule.
