How AI Matching finds the right space for your shoot

Shuttrd's AI Matching takes a written brief of up to 2,000 characters — plus an optional reference photo — and turns it into a shortlist of bookable spaces drawn from all eight categories on the platform, from media studios and apartments to showrooms and event spaces. The feature sits at the top of shuttrd.com, marked "AI Powered", and it exists for one reason. The spaces people remember are the ones they could describe but not filter for.

It also lands in a market that is unusually ready for it. In Q1 2026 the UAE became the first economy in the world where more than 70 per cent of the working-age population uses AI tools — 70.1 per cent, against a global average of 17.8 per cent, according to the Microsoft AI Diffusion Report (reported by Gulf News, 8 May 2026). Briefing an AI is no longer a novelty here. It is how a large share of this country already works.

What is AI Matching on Shuttrd?

It is a search box that reads sentences instead of dropdowns. On the shuttrd.com homepage you will find a free-text field, an Add reference photo option and a Find Matches button. You describe the space you need in plain language, attach a reference image if you have one, and the system returns spaces on Shuttrd that fit the description.

The two example prompts Shuttrd shows on the page tell you exactly what it expects. One reads "A rooftop with golden hour light and a backdrop". The other reads "A bright white studio under 200 AED with big windows". Neither is long. Both are specific.

How does the three-step flow work?

The flow mirrors the way a producer briefs a location scout, compressed into a minute.

First, describe the shoot. Write what the frame needs — the light, the surfaces, the mood, the budget ceiling, anything a scout would ask you about. The field takes up to 2,000 characters, though the example prompts show that one good sentence is often enough.

Second, add a reference photo if you have one. A single frame from a mood board carries information that is slow to type — palette, texture, how hard the light is. The written brief and the image work together.

Third, press Find Matches and work the shortlist. Matched spaces are ordinary Shuttrd listings, so everything you would normally do applies. You can check photos and hourly rates, chat with the host before you commit, and book by the hour. If the shortlist is close but not right, edit the brief and run it again — sharpening one constraint at a time is faster than starting over.

What should you actually put in the brief?

Look again at Shuttrd's own examples. Each one names three things — the light, a budget or a location type, and one must-have feature. That structure is the whole craft.

A budget line does real work in Dubai in particular. Published studio rates in the city ran from roughly AED 135 to AED 750 an hour before VAT in August 2026 — a fivefold spread — as we documented in our 2026 studio price guide. "Under 200 AED" cuts that spread down before you have looked at a single photo.

What to leave out is anything the listing already handles. You do not need to write the district into the brief if any well-lit apartment will do, and you do not need to specify a date — availability is settled at booking, not at matching.

AI Matching or filters — which should you use?

Both are live on the site, and they solve different searches.

The honest answer for most productions is both. Run the brief first, then use the filters on the results page to tighten by price or district.

What happens after the match?

A match is a starting point, not a booking. Before you confirm, do what you would do with any location. Message the host through the listing about access, parking and power. Check the hourly rate against the market ranges in our price guide so you know what you are comparing.
